Today is a sad day for all diehard Raiders fans and NFL fans alike. A legend has passed away.
A great man in the world of sports and probably one of the most influential figures in sports history has died. The man who brought african americans into the picture by drafting them from black colleges and hiring head coaches for his team of hispanic and african american backgrounds. Before the rest of the world had even thought it was acceptable he did it.
A true pioneer and maverick he died doing it the way he wanted to. Unwavering greatness in the eye of insanity he lived what he preached and never backed down. Something you either respect or despise. I loved it to be honest. He did everything for the Raiders and put his life into his work. It's something to be admired and cherished.
Since I am completely incapable of sleeping like a normal human being i will waste about an hour or two writing up my analysis on each team and finally give my picks for each NFL game in week 1. so without further ado...
Atlanta Falcons > Chicago Bears
Although the Bears reached the NFC Championship game last season I believe Atlanta takes this game simply because they have too much fire power. Matt Ryan has a new toy to throw to. If Roddy White and Tony Gonzolez weren't enough they went and grabbed themselves another play maker in the form of Julio Jones which they picked up with the 6th pick in the 1st round of the NFL draft. Not to mention there are still questions about Jay Cutlers toughness after his pathetic performance in his last game. Then to top it off you have the Bears organization not wanting to give their marquee players new contracts. So we will see if Lance Briggs and Matt Forte give you 100 percent. Also the new rules have them at a bit of a disadvantage in regards to years past. With kickers taking off from the 35 yard line instead of the 30 yard line it means Devin Hester will be less of a factor.
Cleveland Browns > Cincinnati Bengals
Lets face it the Bengals are rebuilding the team once again. Except the owner hasn't gone out and picked up anyone. Other than the draft where he took wide receiver AJ Green and quarterback Andy Dalton. They remain $30 million dollars under the $120 million dollar salary cap. So looks like the owner doesn't give a fuck about winning hes just throwing the rookies to the fire and letting them learn with no one else around to help. In my opinion they are going to rely heavily on the just out of jail running back Cedric Benson. Considering they lost Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco it's going to be a shit show. While the browns don't fair much better at least Colt McCoy has some experience. He has shown flashes of excellence in the preseason and Peyton Hillis their running back is a fucking BEAST! The Browns take this one by 14.
Kansas City Chiefs > Buffalo Bills
As much as I hate to do this. I have to say that Kansas City has the better team. Cassel played well last year and he has dwayne bowe to throw to. They picked up a magnificent rookie receiver in the 1st round of the draft but he broke his thumb in a fight with running back Thomas Jones. Buffalo also took a step back by letting receiver Lee Evans go. Although Stevie Johnson really showed up last year and made a name for himself. I just don't see enough out of Fitzgerald and their defense to let me think they can hang with all that talent on the other side of the ball. KC will give them a steady dose of Thomas Jones and Jamaal Charles then go deep when they get that man defense on the outside and 8 in the box.
Philadelphia Eagles > St. Louis Rams
While you can never count out a very talented young team in the St. Louis Rams, they are facing the "Dream Team". Michael Vick, desean jackson, LeSean McCoy, Jeremy Maclin, Nnamdi Asomugha, Asante Samuel, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, etc... Now I could say that the Rams have picked up another talented defensive end in Robert Quinn to go with the likes of Chris Long and bolstered the secondary with a good safety they got from the eagles named Quintin Mikell. But really do you think they can contain that fucking thing? I'll just call it a green monster. Because they literally have a fucking allstar team. Even if that offensive line doesn't block they have a 4.3 second 40 yard dash quarter back named Michael Vick that will fucking rip your defense apart by himself. Lets just hope Danny Amendola and Mike Sims-Walker can give Sam Bradford enough to throw at. Or it might get ugly real quick.
Detroit Lions > Tampa Bay Buccaneers
This one I'm going to just go with my gut feeling on. Tampa Bay is a hell of a team and they are young and very talented. Especially their quarterback Josh Freeman. That guy is a monster and he plays big time for this team. Also Mike Williams at receiver is amazing. However I think that the Lions are primed to make a fucking move. These guys are fucking scary on the defensive line. With Suh and rookie defensive tackle Nick Fairley I'd be scared to drop back to throw the ball or be a running back trying to find a hole against those freakishly large and athletic monsters. Anyway if the Lions can somehow figure out how to keep Matt Stafford off his surgically repaired shoulder we might just see another 20+ touchdown season from a wide receiver. Because he has the lean mean running, jumping, catching machine Calvin Johnson.
Tennessee Titans > Jacksonville Jaguars
With Jacksonville cutting their starting quarterback David Garrard a week before the season opener and handing the reigns over to rookie QB Blaine Gabbert. I don't see this ending well for them. The Titans have looked relatively sharp in preseason. Having a veteran quarterback back there by the name of Matt Hasselbeck doesn't hurt either. He has a big fast target named Kenny Britt to throw to and arguably the best running back Chris Johnson to hand the ball off to. While pocket hercules Maurice Jones-Drew is very good. I don't think he can carry this entire team on his shoulders. Titans are going to walk on this team.
Baltimore Ravens > Pittsburgh Steelers
I'm sticking my neck out there for this one. These games are always a coin toss. You know it's going to be physical. You know that they are going to shut down the run game and it will come down to which quarterback can win the game for you when it counts. I think Joe Flacco has what it takes to get him over the hump this season. With a healthy (healthy as hes going to get) Ed Reed back there and rookie cornerback Jimmy Smith coming in to help with hard hitting Zbikowski (hes a boxer and knocks niggas out) I predict a couple turnovers. And turnovers in a game like this are everything. But you can never count out those mean down and dirty steelers. I mean hell they have Big Ben hes a rapist, fuckin Hines Ward (just arrested for DUI) is known for his dirty play, and the most fined player of 2010 James Harrison. So it kind of fits. But I'd expect a lot of hard hitting from these two veteran teams and a lot of down the field plays to speedsters Mike Wallace and Emmanuel Sanders from Big Ben. Lets hope Joe can keep up because I picked that fuckboy to do it this year. So lets get 'em fucking PUMPED UP RAY LEWIS AND WOOO LETS DO THIS SHIT NIGGA!!
Houston Texans > Indianapolis Colts
The Colts pretty much have to be shell shocked at the moment. With news of Peyton Manning most likely missing the entire season and possibly the rest of his NFL career due to a neck injury. They can't rely on him controlling the clock and more importantly controlling that offense. When he can't get his team up fast in games like usual it's going to slow down that pass rush by their two speedy defensive ends Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney. So I'd expect a steady dose of Arian Foster on the ground and Andre Johnson down the field. Even a leagues worst defense like the Houston Texans were last year couldn't fuck this one up. Although I'm hearing grumblings that Foster might not be able to make it because of a hamstring injury. I still think they have this one in the bag.
Arizona Cardinals > Carolina Panthers
I don't know much about the panthers other than they picked up Cam Newton and have a great receiver by the name of Steve Smith. Oh and they have a couple legit running backs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. So they aren't completely helpless. However Newton is a rookie and there is always a learning curve that comes with that. I watched Kolb play against the Raiders this preseason and it looks like he fits in that offense well. It also helps when you have a couple good running backs Beanie Wells and Tim Hightower and arguably the best receiver in the game Larry Fitzgerald. The Cardinals also added two time probowl player Todd Heap to help Kolb find his rhythm early and often. I see the Cardinals winning by a couple touchdowns in this one.
San Diego Chargers > Minnesota Vikings
LOL man I can't wait for this one. Everyone is on that Chargers bandwagon AGAIN I've even heard a few Superbowl mentions already. It seems they are mentioned every year as the top team but always fall short in the playoffs. Not to mention they always start slow. Everyone knows what the core of this team is Rivers, Gates, Vincent Jackson, and now Mathews. They resigned that safety Eric Weddle for like 40+ million. Lets hope Darren Mcfadden doesn't fucking end that idiots career with another big hit. Mcfadden lit him up on his way to a touchdown last year it was great. The vikings on the other hand still have a solid defense. Their defense was changed a little bit they lost Edwards and Williams on the line however they kept Kevin Williams and Jared Allen and the secondary is similar as well. Their big addition was adding Donovan McNabb but they didn't add any receivers and lost their big target Sidney Rice to the Seahawks. So I think too much has changed for the Vikings and the Chargers are already familiar with each other. They'll take this one by a touchdown or two.
San Francisco 49ers > Seattle Seahawks
Both of these teams suck dick. I don't even want to write anything about them because when these two teams meet it's like id rather have needles shoved in my eyeballs before actually watching them play. I have no idea whos going to win this. But since the Seahawks have that nigger Tavaris Jackson or however you spell it playing quarterback I'll take the 49ers. Yes I know even with Alex Smith back there they pose a bigger threat than that nigger does.
Washington Redskins > New York Giants
Mike Shanahan chose Rex Grossman to quarterback his team. Because hes an old dumb fucker. However they have cool players like Chris Cooley and Santana Moss. They also have a solid secondary. With players like Atogwe and LaRon Landry roaming as safeties and play maker Deangelo Hall playing corner back. They could do some interesting things. Especially with Eli Manning struggling to hit anything other than the opposing teams hands with footballs. He led the league in interceptions a year ago and all preseason he looked like shit. Then you have Brandon Jacobs who has magnificent skills and talent but can't keep his head cool for the life of him. This team is imploding from within and they'll win 8 games again but not a championship team anymore. Especially with Osi Umenyiora out after a knee surgery for the first few games. They lived off that pass rush and I don't think Justin Tuck can do it by himself.
New York Jets > Dallas Cowboys
This is a tough one. Because Dallas has the better quarterback and all that shit. I guess I have to see them prove they can win again after last years dismal showing. I'm giving the edge to the jets just because their defense is ridiculous. But occasionally they can't score with Sanchez behind center so you never know. Tons of talent on both teams here. It really could go either way. But I see the difference being the Jets defense in this one.
New England Patriots > Miami Dolphins
Well if 9/11 doesn't mean anything anymore it at least means there isn't a chance in hell the Dolphins win this game. Because the fucking media machine is moving. It has been pumping out propaganda for the 9/11 victims all fucking month. So the red white and blue New England Patriots will get all the calls and penalties will go their way. Yeah and did I mention they are the better team anyway? To be honest they don't even need the bias calls like the infamous "Tuck Rule" in 2001 (btw 2001 terrorist attacks and the red white and blue Patriots getting bullshit calls the same season on their way to a championship a coincidence or conspiracy? heh chew on that one fucker.) Miami stuck with that block head quarter back I can't even think of his name right now.... Chad Henne. Yeah that fucking momo. Hes going to throw 20 picks this year and 16 touchdowns. They lost BOTH of their fucking marquee running backs Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams and added a fake running back by the name of Reggie Bush. So basically they have no true running backs anymore and added a slot receiver Reggie Bush instead. Fucking morons. Tom Brady is going to put up 35 on this team and Miami might score twice.
Oakland Raiders > Denver Broncos
Finally to the end of this shit 3 hours later. The Broncos picked up rookie defensive end Von Miller in the 1st round of the draft this year. He'll be teaming up with Elvis Dumervil. They'll have a pretty good pass rush this season. They also have veterans Champ Bailey and hard hitting Brian Dawkins in the secondary. Formidable opponents for anyone. But coach Hue Jackson is building a bully out in Oakland. Hes hoping to showcase all that track star speed he possesses. In the form of Jacoby Ford and Darren Mcfadden. There are a ton of weapons like rookie wide receiver Denarius Moore and the other rookie running back Taiwan Jones who looks like a speeding bullet every time he touches the ball. On the defensive side of the ball the Raiders are stacked on the line with Matt Shaughnessy, Richard Seymour, Tommy Kelly, and second year man Lamarr Houston. It could arguably be the best line in the NFL. 2nd in sacks only to the Pittsburgh Steelers last season. The linebackers are led by 2nd year man Rolando Mcclain who has really looked sharp this preseason. Hes going to be playing along side Kamerion Wimbley who led the team with 9 sacks last season. The Raiders are lacking depth at the cornerback position with Stanford Routt and Chris Johnson as the starters. They hope to have Michael Huff and Tyvon Branch picking up the slack for those guys as they both come off of their best year. I see the raiders winning by at least 2 touchdowns.
i don't really know how they are going to do right now. i've given it a lot of thought and usually i just give up on my team. these guys have been really bad losers lately. a lot of guys that just don't care about winning.
something just feels weird about this oakland raiders team though. these guys don't win pretty every game is probably the weirdest ugly game i've ever seen. but some how they are putting up huge numbers. like historic numbers in some of the ugliest games you have ever seen.
it's not like peyton manning going for 60 points in a game throwing 6 touchdowns. you know just driving it down the field and scoring at will. it's not like that at all. it's grind it out not making bad plays but not looking real pretty at it either. it's an awkward herky jerky movement that is somehow strangling the life out of it's opponents like a constricting snake.
a true team effort in each bout though. not the defense does this, the special teams does that, the offense is on this. nah one struggles the other guys pick it up and when they struggle the other ones are there to snatch up the slack. i just like how they look going in to this.
they really have the lights shining on them now. everyone is paying attention all football fans and analysts alike. they have all noticed the rising stars and nobodies on this oakland raiders silver and black attack. these kids are young, they are fast probably the fastest, and they have some key figures in the leadership roles. man they can do it.
today i don't even know whos going to step up and be the man. thats the kind of year its been. darren mcfadden really has been the man this year though. i'd like to see him gash some red shirts today. hit em in the mouth. i want to see richard seymour have his defining game today i want to see him play havok on that #1 ranked chiefs rushing attack.
the raiders defensive line has to smash them in the mouth. beat them up throw elbows body slam do whatever you have to do. do not let these kids get a crease don't let them run.
Thats right folks! Your eyes aren't deceiving you. Donovan Mcnabb might be going to the Oakland Raiders...
At least according to Yahoo News and NFL.com. Two reputable news sources are saying the Oakland Raiders are one of three teams very interesting in acquiring the illustrious Donovan Mcnabb From the Philadelphia Eagles!
Me being a diehard back in black, silver and black, just win baby, Oakland Raiders fan. This is great news. We all know Jamarcus Russell is garbage. His drop is too slow, he can't feel the rush, and hes inaccurate.
Gradkowski isn't exactly a primetime QB either however hes the better option in my opinion. With his upbeat movement during game time and leadership capabilities you can't really disagree with me here.
However, if we get the chance to pick up Mcnabb. I'd drop my first round and second round picks for the man. Hes a franchise QB with experience and HE CAN PASS THE FUCKING BALL!
So if there is anything left up there Mr. Davis please sign this fucking guy already. Give us true Silver and Black Raiders fans something to cheer about!
